WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue men's tennis team finished its weekend with a 5-2 loss at Western Michigan on Sunday afternoon. The loss for the Boilermakers is their second in a row after falling to Notre Dame Saturday. Purdue is now 4-2 in its spring season.
Purdue jumped off to a quick start by winning the doubles point. At the No. 1 spot, Eric Hodgman and Patrick Rose defeated Brady Crosby and Bryan Norville 9-7. The other win in doubles came by a 9-8 decision when Colin Foster and Scott Warner defeated Tim Bradshaw and Jeff French at No.3.
In singles, Purdue managed only one victory and it was at the No. 6 spot where freshman Kelubia Mabatah defeated Jeff French in three sets 7-5, 4-6, 6-3.
The Boilermakers return to action Feb. 17 when they play host to in-state opponent Ball State. The match will take place at the Lafayette Sports Center and is slated to begin at 6 p.m.
