A Thriller For Miller

ATHENS, Ga. - Junior Amanda Miller highlighted Purdue's second day of competition at the Georgia Invitational, placing second off the 3-meter springboard with 291.00 points.

Miller barely made the cut for finals after placing 11th in prelims with 251.95 points; however, she accumulated nearly 40 more points during finals to earn the runner-up prize.

Auburn's Corey Lynn Gerlach won the 3-meter title with 327.70 points, while Miller's All-American teammate Carrie McCambridge place fifth with 284.55 points. McCambridge was slightly better in prelims, collecting 286.30 points.

The men did not have as good as day as the women. Junior Steve LoBue was the Boilermakers' top finisher with an eighth-place showing off the 1-meter springboard (279.40). Senior Josh Karshen also qualified for finals and placed 11th with 246.70 points.

Georgia's Chris Colwill won his second straight springboard title with 350.50 points, while Auburn's Steven Segerlin was again the runner-up with 326.10 points.

The Georgia Invitational concludes Sunday with the platform tower competition.
