ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) - Daniel Horton scored 24 points, including go-ahead free throws with 2:39 left, and Michigan held on to beat Purdue 68-65 Saturday.
Ron Coleman made one of two free throws with 6.7 seconds left for the Wolverines (11-2, 1-1 Big Ten) after Matt Kiefer missed a 3-pointer and before Korey Spates was short on a long shot that would've tied the game just before the final buzzer.
Kiefer scored 21 and Spates had 17 points off the bench for Purdue (6-7, 0-2).
The depleted Boilermakers led 38-33 at halftime and had the lead for much of the second half before falling just short of their first victory on the road this season.
Purdue has lost two players - Carl Laundry and David Teague - to season-ending injuries and Tarrance Crump to suspension, and Nate Minnoy had a knee injury in the Big Ten opener against Northwestern.
Michigan's Dion Harris was held scoreless - 11 below his average - on 0-for-7 shooting. With Harris struggling from the field and Lester Abram missing his second game with a toe injury, the Wolverines made just 37.5 percent of their shots.
The Wolverines retired Bill Buntin's No. 22 jersey at halftime, honoring a mid-1960s star, who died when he was 26 after having a heart attack.
