WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) - Chris Lutz scored 17 points to help Purdue beat Chicago State 69-56 on Tuesday night.
Lutz, a freshman, made 5 of 10 3-pointers.
Royce Parran scored 16 points and Kevin Jones 15 to lead Chicago State (1-3).
Purdue (3-3) made 9 of 18 3-pointers to offset Carl Landry's absence.
The senior forward, the team's leading scorer this season and second-team All-Big Ten performer last season, still hasn't recovered from offseason knee surgery.
The Boilermakers also were without starting point guard Korey Spates, who was still recovering from a concussion he suffered in Saturday's loss to Evansville.
The Boilermakers struggled to score early but stayed in the game with defense. Purdue held the Cougars to 7-for-24 shooting in the first half to take a 32-23 lead at the break. Five of Chicago State's seven first-half field goals were 3-pointers.
Nate Minnoy scored 13 points and Bobby Riddell 10 for Purdue.
