The Purple Aces, who had a 27-21 margin at the break, led by as many as 12 in the second half before Purdue (2-3) rallied in the final five minutes. The Boilermakers shot just 7-of-20 (35 percent) in the first half but were 17-of-32 (53.1 percent) after the break.
Lutz hit a 3-pointer with 4:26 left to trim the gap to two at 60-58, then Minnoy hit a jumper less than two minutes later to draw within one. Purdue stayed close and got to within two again with 54 seconds left on a Minnoy free throw.
The Aces stretched their lead to six again, mostly on free throws, before Minnoy hit a layup to make it 71-69 with 16 seconds left.
Purdue's Chris Hartley then fouled Holsinger twice, setting up the game-clinching free throws.
