WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) -- Freshman Chris Lutz scored 14 of his 20 points in the second half to lead Purdue past New Orleans 68-56 on Saturday night.
Lutz was 7-of-13 from the field, including 4-of-9 from 3-point range.
Earnest Daney led New Orleans with 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting.
The Boilermakers (4-4) shot 50 percent from the field, improved to 4-0 at home and bounced back from a loss to Loyola-Chicago.
Purdue also improved to 4-0 all time in the series against New Orleans (2-6).
Purdue led 30-17 at halftime after holding the Privateers to 7-of-26 shooting and forcing 13 turnovers.
New Orleans cut the lead to 35-29 early in the second half, but the Boilermakers went on a 14-4 run.
New Orleans' poor offensive output followed a 94-53 loss to LSU on Tuesday.
Matt Kiefer scored 12 points and reserve Gary Ware had 12 points and six rebounds for the Boilermakers.
Wayne Williams scored 11 points for New Orleans.
