CHICAGO (AP) - Majak Kou scored 19 points, all but one during a four-minute stretch in the second half, to lead Loyola of Chicago to an 80-65 victory over short-handed Purdue late Sunday.
Loyola (6-1), which led for all but the first two minutes of the game, was up 37-26 at halftime, and held a 44-28 lead before the Boilermakers ran off eight points to cut the margin to 44-36.
The two teams traded free-throws before Kou hit a three-pointer that was matched by Marcus Green. But Kou added another three-pointer, a two-pointer, a third three-pointer and another two-pointer to put the Ramblers safely ahead 63-47.
The Boilermakers never cut the deficit below double figures after that.
The win was Loyola's first over a Big Ten team since November 1994.
Matt Kiefer led Purdue (3-4) with 15 points, while Green added 14. Korey Spates added 12 and Nate Minnoy had 11.
Purdue was hurt by poor outside shooting, hitting only two of 15 three-pointers, while Loyola hit seven of 16 beyond the ark.
Chris Logan scored 14 points, Leon Young 13, and J.R. Blount 12 for the Ramblers.
Purdue played without their two leading scorers from last year. David Teague and Carl Landry are both sitting out the rest of the season with knee injuries.
