LoBue fared much better off the 1-meter with his third-place total of 286.85 points, while J.R. Hills and Schultz captured the sixth and seventh spots.

The Boilermakers' diving results have the team ahead of both No. 23 Penn State and host No. 17 Virginia. Purdue leads its conference rival, 96-90, and the Cavs, 101-85.

According to head coach Dan Ross, Purdue outscored PSU in diving by four points and in swimming by two points. Against Virginia, Purdue outscored the Cavs off the boards by 22, but are six points behind in swimming.

"Should be an exciting finish for all teams involved tomorrow," said Ross. "Since there's no diving left we can expect to have a fight on our hands in order to keep our leads on Penn State and Virginia."

The swimming portion of the meet was controlled by No. 1 Auburn, which won six of eight events. As a result, the Tigers lead Purdue, 114-66; Virginia, 101-73, and Penn State, 118-62.

Penn State leads Virginia in their meet, 97-89.

Virginia won two races. Vanja Rogul beat Giordan Pogioli in the 100 breaststroke, 53.53 to 55.07, and Fran Crippen won the 500 freestyle over teammate John Millen.

Other Purdue pool highlights included a third and fourth-place finish by Pogioli (1:51.39) and Romain Maire (1:51.53) in the 200 individual medley; a fourth-place showing in the 400 medley relay and third-place finish in the 200 free relay.
