KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The Boilermakers solved the full-court press put on by the New Mexico Lobos to win 68-56 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Purdue, the No. 9 seed in the Philadelphia Regional, will face the winner of the Tennessee-Western Carolina game at Thompson-Boling Arena on Tuesday.
Erin Lawless led the Boilermakers with 22 points. Lindsay Wisdom-Hylton had 17, including two of three from behind the arc. Katie Gearlds contributed 16 and three assists. Emily Heikes had six points and eight rebounds.
Purdue, with a 17-12 record, is now 12-1 in NCAA Tournament first-round play.
The Lobos, who were seeded eighth, finish the year with a 26-5 record.
