AUSTIN, Texas - Purdue scattered nine hits on the afternoon but was unable to push any runs across the plate as the Boilermakers lost their series finale with No. 1 Texas by a score of 8-0. The Longhorns improved to 21-1 on the season, including a 16-0 mark at Disch-Falk Field. The loss was the sixth in a row for the Boilermakers, who fell to 1-8.

For the third straight day, Texas took the lead in the bottom of the first inning. The Longhorns loaded the bases with two infield singles and a walk before Thomas Incaviglia drove in two with a base hit. A sacrifice fly then made it 3-0.

Texas put together another three-run inning in the fourh and added single runs in the fifth and seventh to finish the game's scoring. Calvin Beamon paced the Longhorns at the plate with three hits and two RBI.

Neal Gorka connected for three hits for Purdue, his sixth multi-hit game of the season. Gorka also had a solid day in right field that included a diving catch in foul territory. With a single in the fourth inning, Mitch Hilligoss extended his hitting streak to eight games.

Mitch Pruemer (1-2) got the start for Purdue and went five innings, allowing seven runs on 12 hits. Starter Kyle McCulloch picked up the win for the Longhorns to improve to 3-1. In five innings of work McCulloch yielded four hits, struck out four, and issued no walks.

Purdue continues its eight-game trip through Texas on Tuesday with a 7 p.m. game against No. 5 Rice at Reckling Park in Houston.
