ATHENS, Ga. - Miami Hurricane divers Miguel Velazquez and Jenna Dreyer reigned over their opponents during the second day of competition Tuesday at the Georgia Invitational. Velazquez won off the 3-meter with 601.65 points, while Dreyer won a pair of 1-meter titles.
Carrie McCambridge was Purdue's top finisher off the 1-meter, finishing as the runner-up to Dreyer in the finals with 257.75 points. Amanda Miller posted a solid fifth-place showing with 247.45 points.
The top 13 female divers again competed off the 1-meter springboard in a bonus competition tabbed as the `real finals'. Dreyer won her second title of the afternoon with an improved score of 292.90 points, while McCambridge dropped to fourth, despite posting a higher point total (272.60). Miller placed eighth with her score of 247.75.
Josh Karshen was Purdue's top scorer on the men's side for a second straight day, compiling 481.25 points off the 3-meter springboard, which was good for ninth place. He was followed in the standings by teammates Steven LoBue (476.50) and Clayton Davis (475.25).
David Hanisch and Bob Hennessy both posted season bests off the 3-meter with their scores of 424.85 and 366.70.
