On Day Two of the Music City Classic, the Boilermakers saw their opponent throw a complete game for the second time in as many games. However, this time it was not enough as Purdue bested the Lipscomb Bisons at Dugan Field, 1-0.

The win evens Purdue's record at 1-1 while Lipscomb drops to 1-3.

The shutout was a combined effort between sophomores Chris Toneguzzi (Thunder Bay, Ontario) and Jesse Krause (Columbia City, Ind.). Toneguzzi is credited with the win while Krause gets the save, the first of his collegiate career.

Purdue struck for a run in the top half of the third inning with the help of a miscue by Bisons pitcher Seth Kuwik. With one down, center fielder Mike Coles (Jr., Hammond, Ind.) singled up the middle and moved to third on a base hit to center by catcher Ben Fritz (Sr., Minnetonka, Minn.). Kuwik followed the hit with a balk, allowing Coles to score the game's first and only run

Toneguzzi started on the hill for the Boilermakers and tossed a masterful six innings, yielding just two hits while striking out one. Toneguzzi (1-0) recorded 14 of the 18 outs he hurled by way of groundout.

The Boilermaker bullpen was impressive for the second straight day as Krause allowed only one base runner via a walk while striking out two.

The Boilermakers conclude their opening weekend with a 2 p.m. EST contest against Vanderbilt on Sunday, Feb. 29.
