The Purdue men's tennis team struggled in its final day at the Notre Dame Tom Fallon Invitational on Sunday. The Boilermakers managed just one singles victory in seven matches in a hidden dual against Michigan.
Junior Filip Koziell was the lone Purdue winner, with a 6-3, 0-6, 1-0 (10-8) victory over Ryan Heller.
Junior David Robinson lost 6-1, 6-1 to Michael Rubin. Sophomore Colin Foster lost 6-2, 6-2 to Brian Hung. Freshman Jarred Leibner dropped a 6-2, 7-5 decision to Carey Rubin. Junior Jamie Kish fell 6-1, 6-2 to Vinny Gossain. Freshman Eric Hodgman lost 2-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-4) to Josef Fischer. And freshman Scott Warner lost 6-4, 6-3 to Bobby McNally of Notre Dame.
Purdue head coach Tim Madden was displeased with the results, but said the Boilermakers will work on their weaknesses.
"This was not a good way to finish," Madden said. "We looked like we didn't believe in ourselves. That is a problem we will address in the next two weeks."
Madden plans on having his players ready for the Boilermaker Invitational, which will be held in West Lafayette, on Oct. 18 and 19.
