Purdue junior Lara Burgarello and freshman Alyssa Rodriguez beat Notre Dame's Sarah Jane Connelly and Emily Neighbors 8-2 in a White flight semifinal of the Kentucky Fall Classic on Saturday, in Lexington.
Sophomore Paula Schmidt joined Burgarello and Rodriguez in the win column, with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Marshall's Olivia Hill 6-2, 6-4 in the Red flight. Schmidt was the lone Boilermaker singles winner on the day.
In other singles competition, junior Shawna Zuccarini dropped a 6-3, 7-6 decision to Jennifer Klaschka of Middle Tennessee State in the Blue flight. Also in the Blue flight, freshman Hala Sufi fell 6-0, 7-5 to Amy Wei of William & Mary.
Freshman Alyssa Rodriguez, who won two singles matches Friday, lost 6-4, 7-6 to Notre Dame's Kristina Stastny in the White flight.
In the Green flight, freshman Emily Bomersback lost 6-1, 6-0 to William & Mary's Alex DeGuzman, while junior Catie McLevish fell 6-2, 6-1 to the Tribe's Krista Dunbar.
Sophomore Brittany Reitz withdrew from her White flight match against William & Mary's Lena Sherbakov.
In other doubles action, Zuccarini and McLevish lost 8-3 to Notre Dame's Liz Donohue and Kelly Nelson in the Green flight, while Bomersback and Schmidt dropped an 8-4 decision to the Thundering Herd's Hill and Middle Tennessee State's Emily Vest in the Red flight.
