WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Senior Troy Havens and sophomore Paul Rose dropped out of the ITA Midwest Championships with a quarterfinal loss Monday in East Lansing, Mich.
Havens and Rose advanced to the round of eight before falling 8-6 to third-seeded Michael Calkins and Chris Martin of Illinois. Sixty-four doubles teams started competition in the regional tournament Saturday.
Purdue head coach Tim Madden spoke positively about his pair's performance despite the loss.
"Troy and Paul played at a very high level," Madden said. "Even though they weren't able to get this win, they showed throughout the weekend that they are capable of beating anyone in the region."
Havens, Rose and the rest of the Boilermakers will conclude their fall season at the Big Ten Indoor Singles Championships, which will be played in Ann Arbor, Mich., from Nov. 15 to 17.
