WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue women's tennis team fell 4-3 to No. 26 Illinois, today.
The Boilermakers (11-10, 5-4) will prepare for their last home match on Sunday, April 20 against Indiana.
The Fighting Illini improve to 14-6 overall and 7-2 in the Big Ten.
In doubles, the Purdue team of junior Gretchen Haynor and senior Melissa Iqbal defeated Illinois' tandem of Leila Cehjic and Brianna Knue 8-4 at the No. 3 spot. The Lady Illini won the at the No. 1 and 2 spots for the doubles point.
Sophomore Shawna Zuccarini turned in the first point for the team at the No. 4 singles spot by upending Knue7-5, 3-6, 6-0, while senior Missy Wright handed Michelle Webb a three set loss at the No. 5 spot.
The last Boilermaker point was won at the No. 6 spot by sophomore Lara Burgarello. She served Jessica Barki a 7-5, 6-0 loss.
