WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue women's tennis team fell 6-1 to No. 6 Duke, today.
"We felt like we had a very solid effort from the start of doubles into singles," Iandolo said. "We came up against the most talented team in the country. We felt like we learned a lot and we're ready for our home match this Saturday."
Duke won the doubles point, giving them a 1-0 lead over Purdue.
Sophomore Amy Walgenbach evened the score after upsetting No. 51 Julia Smith at the No. three singles spot.
The Boilermakers struggled with the rest of the singles competition as the Blue Devils won at the No. 1, 5 and 6 spots allowing them to clinch the match. Junior Gretchen Haynor fell to No. 1 Kelly McCain, senior Missy Wright fell to No. 61 Julie DeRoo and junior Melissa Woods fell to No. 37 Sara Arasu, all in straight sets.
The Boilermakers will return home this Saturday, March 8 as they take on DePaul at the Lafayette Sports Center.
