WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue women's tennis team defeated Miami of Ohio 7-0 at the Lafayette Sports Center today.
The afternoon began with the Boilermakers winning all three doubles matches to claim the point.
Singles began with senior Missy Wright upending Maura Travernict 6-1, 6-4 at the No. 6 spot. Sophomores Amy Walgenbach and Shawna Zuccarini went on to win at the No. 4 and 5 spots to clinch the match.
Senior Melissa Iqbal, junior Gretchen Haynor and freshman Brittany Reitz closed out the match with victories at No. 1, 2 and 3 to provide the sweep.
Play will continue this evening, as the Boilermakers will take on Butler at 6 p.m. The match will be played at the Lafayette Sports Center.
