Haynor And Wright Bow Out Of All-American Championships

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Junior Gretchen Haynor and senior Missy Wright concluded their final day of competition at the Riviera Women's All-American Championships in Los Angeles, Calif, today.

Purdue's 33rd-ranked ranked doubles team of Haynor and Wright fell to UCLA's 20th-ranked tandem of Feriel Esseghir and Lauren Fisher 8-2 in the consolation round.

For the week, Purdue compiled a 1-1 singles record by senior Melissa Iqbal on Tuesday, Oct. 8 and the doubles team of Haynor and Wright were able to compete twice on Oct. 8 and Oct. 9.

Assistant coach Chris Iandolo said all three members gained experience this week.

"They were able to see the top teams in the nation compete," Iandolo said. "Hopefully Gretchen, Melissa and Missy will leave this tournament with confidence.

The Purdue women's tennis team will resume its fall tournament schedule on Friday, Oct. 18 when they travel to Nashville, Tenn., for the Vanderbilt Invitational.
