WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Freshman Brittany Reitz and sophomore Lara Burgarello lost in the semifinals of doubles at the ITA/Omni Hotels Regional Championships in East Lansing, Mich., today.

Reitz and Burgarello advanced to the final four by upseting fourth-seeded Rebecca Hawkins and Lisa D'Amelio of Eastern Michigan 8-3, but fell to eventual doubles champions Jennifer McGaffigan and Michelle Webb of Illinois 9-7.

Head coach Mat Iandolo was thrilled abut the play of both Boilermakers.

"Brittany and Lara had a great tournament," Iandolo said. "They upset two seeded teams, and made a great run."

In the quarterfinals of singles, senior Melissa Iqbal fell 6-1, 7-6 to Michelle DaCosta of Michigan.

For the tournament, the team compiled a 19-10 tournament record; 13-7 for singles and 6-3 for doubles. Boilermakers upset three ranked or seeded players in the tournament.

"Our goal was to peak at regionals and we did just that," Iandolo said. "All of the players stepped up and showed the Midwest that we are a very strong team."

The Boilermakers next will compete in the Notre Dame Invitational beginning Friday, Nov. 8 in South Bend, Ind.
