WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Senior Missy Wright finished in first place while sophomore Lara Burgarello received third place in the singles competition at the June Stewart Fall Invitational in Nashville, Tenn., today.
In Flight Five, Wright defeated Danielle Hock of Marshall 6-3, 6-4 in the final round, giving her a first place finish. Burgarello captured third place after upending Ashley Robards of Tennessee 6-4, 6-1 in the fourth flight.
In other singles action, two Boilermakers finished in fifth place in their individual flights.
In Flight Three, sophomore Amy Walgenbach defeated Aleke Tsoubanos of Vanderbilt 6-3, 5-7, (10-7), while sophomore Shawna Zuccarini toppled Holly Asel of Marshall 6-0, 6-0 in the sixth flight.
In Flight Two, freshman Brittany Reitz fell to Alice Sukner of Marshall due to an injury. Junior Gretchen Haynor did not play her final round due to the weather in Flight One. In Flight Seven, sophomore Catie McLevish fell to Danielle Petrisko of Kentucky 6-3, 6-3 and did not play her final round of competition.
