WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue dropped game four of its series with Minnesota, 15-2, Monday afternoon at Lambert Field.
Minnesota jumped out to a 6-0 lead scoring three runs in both the third and fourth innings. Jeremy Beaulieu belted a solo home run to lead of the third to open the scoring before Scott Welch plated two runs on his third-inning single. David Hrncirk tallied a RBI single and Luke Appert drove in two runs in the fourth.
The Boilermakers got on the board in the fourth inning when Nick McIntyre doubled home Wilson James. Purdue added a run in the sixth on David Harrell's sacrifice fly, cutting the lead to 6-2.
Minnesota scored seven runs in the eighth inning to break the game open, including three on Jason Kennedy's home run to left. The Gophers added two runs in the ninth to provide the final margin.
Adam Fazio and Kris Luce each had two hits for Purdue.
The Boilermakers, 21-25 overall and 11-13 in the Big Ten, travel to Valparaiso for a Tuesday afternoon non-conference game. Purdue returns home Friday to begin a four-game series against intrastate rival Indiana.

-The 15 runs by Minnesota tied for the second-highest total allowed by Purdue this season.
-Purdue dropped all four games of a Big Ten series for the first time since April 30-May 2 of 1999 when Ohio State won all four games in Columbus.
