WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue dropped both ends of Sunday's doubleheader to first-place Minnesota at Lambert Field. The Golden Gophers took game one 4-2 and the nightcap 7-4.

Minnesota took an early 1-0 lead in game one on David Hrncirik's RBI single in the second inning.

Purdue answered and took a 2-1 lead in the fourth inning. David Harrell knotted the game at one when he singled home Wilson James. The Boilermakers took the lead when Nick McIntyre scored on a double play ground out.

The Gophers took the lead in the fifth inning on David Roach's double, scoring Scott Welch and Jason Kennedy, for a 3-2 advantage. Minnesota added a run in the sixth on Kennedy's RBI single for a 4-2 lead, the game's final margin.

Minnesota pitcher C.J. Woodrow pitched a complete game for his sixth victory of the season.

In game two, the Boilermakers opened the scoring on McIntyre's RBI double, scoring Wilson James. McIntyre then scored on Harrell's RBI single for a 2-0 Purdue lead.

McIntyre singled home John Manuel in the second inning for a 3-0 Boilermaker lead.

Minnesota evened the score at three in the fourth inning. Ben Pattee plated Appert on a RBI single, Kennedy scored on a RBI groundout by Welch and Pattee scored on Jeremy Beaulieu's sacrifice fly.

The Gophers broke the game open in the fifth when Pattee hit a grand slam off Brent Coudron for a 7-3 lead.

Purdue scored one run in the bottom of the seventh when McIntyre crossed home on a double play groundout, to make it a 7-4 game.

McIntyre went three for three with two RBI and two runs scored in game two. Harrell also added three hits and one RBI.

The Boilermakers, 21-24 overall and 11-12 in the Big Ten conclude their series with Minnesota on Monday with a nine-inning contest at noon. -Kris Luce hit safely in each of his first six at-bats of the series, with four hits on Saturday and singles in his first two at-bats of game one on Sunday.

-Wilson James tied a career-best with two hits in game two.
