WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue won game one of its Saturday doubleheader at Michigan, 3-2, to even the series at one game a piece.
Michigan jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the second inning when Mike Sokol delivered an RBI single and Brandon Jominy drove in Jake Fox on a sacrifice fly.
Brad Kriner belted a solo home run, his first of the season, over the left field fence to cut the lead to 2-1 in the third.
Purdue rallied in the fifth inning when Daniel Underwood singled home Andy Rempel, knotting the game at two. Nick McIntyre then laced an RBI single to left, plating Kriner for a 3-2 lead.
Reigning Big Ten Pitcher of the Week Mitch Pruemer went the distance for the Boilermakers to earn his team-high seventh victory and fifth complete game of the season.
The Boilermakers enter game two of Saturday's doubleheader with a 24-30 season record and 13-17 Big Ten mark.
Additional Game Notes -Brad Kriner's home run was the third of his career and first since May 8, 2001 at Chicago State.
-Pruemer tossed consecutive complete games for the second time this season.
-Mitch Pruemer's seven wins in 2002 ties him for the tenth-best season total in Purdue history.
