WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue dropped game two of its doubleheader at Michigan, 8-3, to split the Saturday twinbill.

Purdue opened the scoring in the top of the first when Nick McIntyre singled, advanced to second on a ground out, stole third and crossed the plate on a throwing error by Michigan pitcher Jim Brauer for a 1-0 lead.

Andy Rempel led off the second inning with a double down the right field line and eventually came around to score on John Gusich's RBI single to give the Boilermakers a 2-0 lead.

Michigan cut the lead to 2-1 in the second inning when Jake Fox hit a solo home run over the left field fence.

Blake Rutkowski singled home Nick Rudden as the Wolverines knotted the score at two in the third.

The Boilermakers regained the lead in the top of the sixth inning at 3-2. Gusich belted a two-out double to left center field and scored when Adam Fazio singled to right.

Michigan loaded the bases in the sixth and took a 4-3 lead when Fox drove in two runs on a single to right field. Brandon Jominy hit a grad slam over the left field fence to extend the Wolverine advantage to 8-3.

The Boilermakers, 24-31 on the season and 13-18 in Big Ten play, conclude their Big Ten regular season schedule against the Wolverines with Sunday's 1 p.m. EDT series finale at Ray Fisher Stadium.

Additional Game Notes -John Gusich played three positions during the sixth inning: 3B, P and 1B.
-Kris Luce made the first mound appearance of his collegiate career and retired both batters faced.
