WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Indiana hit four home runs, including two by Vasili Spanos, in a 15-5 win over Purdue in game one of the weekend series at Lambert Field.
The Boilermakers opened the scoring, posting three runs in their first at-bat of the contest. Adam Fazio opened the game with a triple and scored on Daniel Underwood's RBI single. Nick McIntyre then followed with a triple, scoring Underwood, and crossed the plate on David Harrell's RBI groundout.
Indiana answered with four runs in the third inning, including two on Nick Evans single, for a 4-3 lead.
The Hoosiers scored single runs in the fourth and fifth inning before posting four runs in the sixth, two by way of Josh Romero's home run.
Spanos hit his first homer of the game, a three-run shot in the seventh inning, and added a solo shot in the ninth inning.
Purdue scored runs in their final two at-bats. Simon Klink notched a RBI single in the eighth and Harrell belted a solo homer in the bottom of the ninth.
The Boilermakers, 21-26 overall and 11-14 in the Big Ten, resume their series against Indiana with a Saturday afternoon doubleheader of seven-inning games beginning at 1 p.m. at Lambert Field.

-Kris Luce belted the 39th double of his career, moving him into a tie for eighth-place on Purdue's all-time list with Nick McIntyre.
