WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue dropped their third straight game, 11-7 to UNLV, to fall to 2-4 on the season.

UNLV opened the scoring in the bottom of the first when Garrett Shitinishi scored on a RBI ground out. The Rebels extended their lead to 6-0 with a five-run second inning, keyed by a pair of two-run hits. Ryan Ruiz doubled home two runs and Eric Nielson added a two-run RBI single in the frame.

Purdue answered with three runs in the top of the third. Adam Fazio drove in Rempel on a single to get the Boilermakers on the board. Fazio and Nick McIntyre scored on David Harrell's double cutting the Rebel lead in half at 6-3.

UNLV scored three runs in the fourth inning and added one in the fifth to extend their lead to 10-4.

Fazio added his second RBI of the game, driving in Brad Kriner with a single, in the sixth inning.

Purdue cut the lead to 10-7 in the eighth inning, pushing across three runs in the frame. Matt Bush scored his first run as a Boilermaker, crossing the plate on David Harrell's bases-loaded walk. John Gusich's sacrifice fly brought home Daniel Underwood and Nick McIntyre later scored on a wild pitch.

Starter Billy Lester threw 2.0 innings, allowing five hits and three earned runs. Josh Herman, from nearby La Crescenta, Calif., made his Purdue debut in the third inning and tossed 2.0 innings.

Luke Howard threw 4.0 innings of relief for Purdue, allowing just one run on four UNLV hits.

The Boilermakers conclude their weekend at the Clash of the Conferences with a 10:00 a.m. (PT) game versus George Washington.

-Daniel Underwood extended his hitting streak to 18 games (dating to 4/29/01 at Indiana).
-Adam Fazio has hit safely in all six games this season.
-UNLV scored the game's first run, marking the first time this season that Purdue did not open the scoring.
