WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind.- The Purdue men's tennis doubles team of senior Dan Swan and junior Scott Mayer won its first-round match in the ITA All-American Championships main draw in Stone Mountain, Ga., today.

Swan and Mayer, the 28th-ranked pair in the country, defeated the No. 12 team of Oliver Levant and Eleazar Magallan of Florida, 8-4.

The Boilermaker duo advances to the second round, where it will face the top-ranked team of Scott Lipsky and David Martin of Stanford.

Assistant coach Derek Myers was thrilled with Swan and Mayer's first-round success.

"Both Dan and Scott played excellent today," Myers said. "They are getting better with every match. Tomorrow is a tremendous opportunity for them. They can play like they have nothing to lose and everything to gain."
