WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue men's tennis team defeated intrastate rival Indiana on Sunday in Bloomington with a score of 5-2.
The outstanding doubles play of the Boilermakers once again set the tone for the day. Purdue came out and swept all three matches to secure the point.
In singles action, Jason Marshall defeated Milan Rakvica 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 1 position. Scott Mayer was victorious at No. 3 with a score of 7-6, 4-6, 7-5. Andrew Wakefield was the deciding factor in the match when he defeated Zach Held 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 at the No. 5 position.
"Andrew wanted to be a factor in today's match," head coach Tim Madden said. "He brought energy and tenacity to the match and I was glad he was the determining factor in today's match."
The Boilermakers improved to 6-3 on the season with the win.
