WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue volleyball team fell to No. 13 Ohio State Saturday 15-6, 15-5, 15-11. The Boilermakers fall to 11-13 (3-5 Big Ten), while the Buckeyes improved to 20-2 (10-2 Big Ten).

"Although I don't enjoy losing, I felt tonight was a good thing for our team," head coach Jeff Hulsmeyer said. "We have to get used to being on the court with a team as balanced as Ohio State. We are going to learn from these experiences and keep going."

Junior Maegan Petersen and rookie Joanna Lowry paced the Boilermakers with eight kills each. Senior Julie Doud led Purdue in digs with six, while senior Laura Norton recorded six blocks for the night.

Despite a near flawless performance from freshman Eryn Leach who hit at a clip of .750 (3-0-4) to lead Purdue in Game 1, the Boilermakers could not overcome an 8-1 Ohio State lead. The Buckeyes went on a 7-5 run to take the 15-6 win.

Ohio State scored nine unanswered points to start Game 2. The Boilermakers responded with two aces from junior Lori Knicker, two errors by the Buckeyes and a kill from Lowry to cut the deficit to four. But it was not enough. Ohio State did not allow any further Purdue points and took the game 15-5.

The Boilermakers were held to a clip of .056 (9-7-36) in Game 3 as Ohio State went on to win 15-11.
