WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue men's tennis team snapped a three match winning streak by defeating No. 54 Wisconsin 5-2. Boilermaker head coach Tim Madden was pleased with the win, as well as the comeback of the team after a poor doubles performance.
"Our doubles performance was the poorest the coaching staff has witnessed this year in terms of energy and enthusiasm," Madden said. "However, there was some pointed discussion between doubles and singles action. We had six players come out with complete intensity and dominate singles action."
The Boilers picked up wins at all except one singles position. Purdue, currently ranked 44th in the nation, improves to 7-7 (3-1 Big Ten) record on the season. The men of Old Gold and Black will face Iowa on Sunday. Madden hopes to mirror today's success against the Hawkeyes.
"I think the lesson was learned," Madden said. "We'll try to make up for our doubles performance and show Iowa what doubles intensity is all about."
