WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. ? The Purdue volleyball team won its fifth match in a row and second straight in the Boilermaker Invitational, defeating Siena 15-5, 15-9, 15-9 in the Intercollegiate Athletic Facility today. Purdue improved to 7-1 with the victory, while the Saints dropped to 2-5.
Aneska Arosarena and Julie Doud led all players with 13 kills apiece. Sarah Emke added 12 kills on a .500 hitting percentage (12-3-18), to go along with a team-leading nine digs. Reserve setter Melissa Risher handed out a season-high 31 assists.
The Saints were led by Tracy Correale?s 11 kills.
Purdue hit well against Siena, connecting on 37.5 percent of its attacks. The Boilers hit at an astounding .654 clip in Game 1. Meanwhile, the Saints hit just .198. Purdue outdug Siena 35-20 and recorded a team season-best 12 service aces, including three each from Arosarena, Doud and Lori Knicker.
Purdue wraps up competition in the Boilermaker Invitational with a match against Arkansas-Little Rock at 7:30 p.m. tonight. This will be the Boilers? final non-conference contest of the season.
