Boilers Drop Ninth in a Row at Terre Haute

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind.- The Purdue baseball team let one slip away Tuesday night to the Sycamores from Indiana State. For the Boilers it was their ninth straight loss, dropping them to a mark of 11-20 on the season. Indiana State improved to 12-20 with the win in front of 713 people under the lights at Sycamore Field.

Trailing by a count of 5-0 after three innings, the Boilers put four runs up in the top of the fourth to make it a 5-4 contest. The inning saw Mike Rose, Nate Sickler and Ryan Bettencourt all register singles and the Sycamores helped out with two wild pitches.

After eight complete innings, the Boilers trailed by a score of 6-5. In the top of the ninth, Erik Frei and Ryan Cole lead off with back to back singles. Then Sickler doubled to left and two batters later Bettencourt would single making the score 8-6, Purdue.

The Sycamores would rally and with two outs got the winning run across making the final 9-8 and handing Heath Uppencamp his first loss of the season.

The Boilers are next in action at home at 3:00 on Wednesday when they host Evansville at Lambert Field.
