Purdue Director of Sports Medicine Dennis Miller has been recognized with the GLATA Golden Pinnacle Award. GLATA, Great Lakes Athletic Trainers Association, presents the award to members who show leadership. The Golden Pinnacle Award is the highest honor in District IV.
The award was presented to Miller Friday, March 12th at the Annual Winter Business Meeting in Chicago, Illinois.
"Denny certainly deserves this award for his service to the profession," said Purdue Athletics Director Morgan Burke. "We at Purdue are very proud and happy for him. He has educated many and made an impact on thousands of athletes."
According to GLATA, it "strives to enhance the quality of health care for the physically active, promote the athletic trainer and advance the profession of athletic training through education and research in the prevention, evaluation, management, and rehabilitation of injuries."
The GLATA Golden Pinnacle Award recognizes leadership and long-term achievement in athletic training. Miller is a former president of the Great Lakes Athletic Trainers Association. He also completed four years as president of the 20,000-member National Athletic Trainers Association.
A native of Hawarden, Iowa, Miller received his B.A. degree in physical education from Iowa State in 1968 and later earned an M.S. degree in physical education from Syracuse in 1972.
