WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Golf course designer Pete Dye of Indianapolis, who designed the Kampen Golf Course at Purdue, Dr. Paul Humphrey of Terre Haute, Ind., a Purdue football team captain in 1938, and senior associate athletic director Dick Walbaum of West Lafayette, a 35-year veteran of Purdue, were honored Saturday evening as recipients of the Diamond "P" Award, given annually by the John Purdue Club to individuals who have shown extraordinary support for Boilermaker athletics.
The awards were given as part of the John Purdue Day program following a dinner and a day of golf on the Kampen and Ackerman Hills courses. Several administrators and coaches addressed the crowd prior to the announcements, including football coach Joe Tiller and basketball coach Gene Keady.
Some 500 John Purdue Club members and guests attended the day-long activities.
