WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The annual John Purdue Weekend came to a close on Saturday with the John Purdue Open, the Boilermaker Celebrity Scramble and the recognition of two John Purdue Club members with the highest honor bestowed on Boilermaker backers, the "Diamond P."

Head cross country coach Mike Poehlein and longtime Boilermaker supporter Jack Dyson were honored at the John Purdue Open dinner at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Course following the day's events. The two received the "Diamond P" award for their years of distinguished service and dedication to Purdue.

The Celebrity Scramble featured a number of former Purdue student-athletes as well as coaches and alumni. Former football and basketball player Lamar Lundy was an honored guest at the dinner and spoke about his time as a Boilermaker. Men's basketball coach Gene Keady, football coach Joe Tiller, University President Dr. Martin Jischke and Athletics Director Morgan Burke also addressed the crowd of nearly 500 people, giving sport updates and recounting the past year's accomplishments.

The John Purdue Club serves as host for the two-day event to honor and entertain its members.
