WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Joel Rasmus has been named director of promotions and advertising and Lori Frost has assumed the role of assistant director of the John Purdue Club, it was announced today by the Purdue Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.

Rasmus comes to Purdue following six years as the director of marketing for The News-Gazette Inc., and WDWS Inc., based in Champaign, Ill. Rasmus directed marketing support for five companies within that media corporation. He wrote, edited and produced nationally recognized creative print, radio, television and outdoor advertising campaigns, while also planning and implementing promotional events. Additionally, Rasmus promoted various University of Illinois athletics endeavors, including the annual Go Illini Basketball Pep Rally, the annual Illini Football Family Fun Fest, the Lon Kruger Breakfast Club and the Illini Jr. Krush.

A 1986 graduate of Illinois State, Rasmus also has worked as an account manager for LCI International, Inc., in the communications industry, and The Design Agency and Giltspur, Inc., in the marketing industry.

Rasmus is eager for his new assignment.

"I'm very excited about being here and the opportunity to build upon the foundation that has been made here over the past few years," Rasmus said. "I'm looking forward to adding more successful promotions and events to Purdue."

Frost, who has been in the athletics department for four years, is now involved in communications and travel for the John Purdue Club. Her duties include maintaining the John Purdue Club Web site, coordinating printing projects and mailings, and organizing travel arrangements for Champion-level members making trips with Purdue teams. Additionally, she is involved in the communication plan for the 2003 Ross-Ade Stadium Seat Reallocation and the allocation of indoor club seats.

Frost considers her involvement with the John Purdue Club, which is responsible for providing all scholarship funds to Purdue student-athletes, as gratifying.

"I am thrilled to be a part of an organization that plays such an important role in the lives of our student-athletes," Frost said. "I am able to come to work every day knowing that I am doing something to improve the Purdue experience for our student-athletes. That is very rewarding."
