WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Eight female high school soccer players now have a permanent place in Purdue athletic history. They comprise the first official recruiting class of the Boilermaker soccer program, which begins play in the fall of 1998.

Purdue head coach Rob Klatte announced the signing of eight student-athletes this week to National Letters-of-Intent for the 1998-99 academic year. The signees include defender Elise Berry (Worthington, Ohio, St. Francis DeSales H.S.), defender/goalkeeper Elizabeth Boldt (Wauwatosa, Wis., Wauwatosa East H.S.), midfielder Rebecca Broering (Westerville, Ohio, Westerville North H.S.), goalkeeper Jocelyn Cavalier (Stillwater, Minn., Stillwater H.S.), forward Christina Creamer (Powell, Ohio, Worthington Kilbourne H.S.), defender Tricia Henderson (Cincinnati, Ohio, Turpin H.S.), midfielder Tara McCarthy (Eden Prairie, Minn., Academy of the Holy Angels) and defender Katie Redmond (Brownsburg, Ind., Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School).
