DEFOUW AND MUNDELL RECEIVE DIAMOND "P" AWARDS AT JOHN PURDUE DAY

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Bill DeFouw and Bob Mundell were honored with Diamond "P" Awards for distinguished service to the Purdue Athletic Department at John Purdue Day held today at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex and the Varsity Tennis Courts. John Purdue Day is an annual celebration of John Purdue Club members and their role in the success of Boilermaker athletics.

DeFouw, who earned a purple heart and the bronze star as a medic with the 79th Infantry Division in World War II, has been a John Purdue Club member since 1961, when he moved to Lafayette to open a Chevrolet dealership. DeFouw, who currently operates both a Chevrolet and BMW dealership, has served as the coordinator of the Greater Lafayette Automobile Dealers Association that provides automobiles for the athletic department coaches and administrative staff. He is also a member of Purdue's President's Council.

Mundell is a member of the John Purdue Club at its highest level. A 1970 Purdue graduate, he retired from Chrysler in 1998. Currently a member of the President's Council, the John Purdue Club and the Purdue Alumni Association, Mundell has followed the Boilermakers to Alaska, Hawaii and points in between. His wife, Pat, is also a Purdue graduate, and their daughter is currently enrolled in the School of Pharmacy.
