WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. ? Chris Daniels (Clearwater, Fla., Clearwater High School) and Aneska Arosarena (Panama City, Panama, Hill Junior College) have been named Purdue?s Athletes-of-the-Month for their outstanding performances throughout October. The award is sponsored by WLFI-TV and Twin City Dodge-Chrysler-Plymouth.

Daniels, a senior on the Boilermaker football team, led Purdue in catches and receiving yards in the month of October. The fifth-year senior pulled in 57 catches over the span of five games in the month, including a Big Ten record-setting performance for receptions against Michigan State. Daniels had a total of 301 yards and 21 receptions in the Boilermakers? upset of the then-undefeated Spartans, setting a Purdue record for both receptions and reception yards. He also had his longest catch of the season against MSU, hauling in a 51-yard touchdown pass, and was named Big Ten Offensive Player-of-the-Week. Daniels added 11 catches for 76 yards against Ohio State, and 13 catches for 101 yards in a win against Minnesota. He closed out the month with 616 all-purpose yards.

Arosarena, a senior on the Purdue volleyball team, earned Big Ten Player-of-the-Week honors for the week ending Oct. 2, following outstanding performances in wins over conference rivals Michigan and Michigan State. That was the first time the senior received the award, and it was the first time for a Boilermaker since 1996, when Brooke White won the award. Arosarena tied a career-best 34 kills in the win over Michigan, just four kills short of the school record. The six-foot outside hitter currently leads the Boilers in kills (4.98 kpg), digs (2.75 dpg) and service aces (27).
