WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Seniors Chris Brown and Angela Craft of the outdoor track and field team have been named the Purdue Athletes of the Month for May. The award is presented by WLFI-TV, Twin City Dodge-Chrysler-Plymouth and Gimlet Leadership Honorary.

Brown earned 16 points for the Boilermakers at the Big Ten Championships held in Bloomington, Ind. He won his sixth conference championship when he shattered the meet record with a throw of 67.44m/221-3.00. Brown also placed third in the shot put en route to garnering All Big Ten honors. The native of Portland, Conn., also received athlete of the month honors in February.

Craft spurred the Boilermakers to a second-place finish at the conference championships. At the Big Tens, she was named Athlete of the Meet by the coaches after winning the heptathlon, running the lead leg of the 4x400m team and placing fourth in the long jump. Craft, who earned five Big Ten titles in her career, went on to compete in the heptathlon and 400m hurdles at NCAA's in Eugene, Ore. There she garnered All-America honors in both events, becoming the first athlete in four years to accomplish this feat.
