Boosters Receive awards at Schleman-Hovde Classic Boilers honor supporters of women's athletics.

WEST LAFAYETTE. Ind. -- Several awards were handed out to Purdue athletic department boosters today at the annual Schleman-Hovde Classic that pays tribute to supporters of women's athletics. Some 350 Boilermaker fans were in attendance for a full day of golf, socializing and addresses from various athletic department personnel, including women's basketball coach Carolyn Peck, volleyball coach Joey Vrazel and women's tennis coach Mat Iandolo.

Linda and Ken Ewing of West Lafayette received the prestigious "Black Coat" Award for their interest in and dedication to women's athletics. The couple has been season-ticket holders for numerous sports for many years and members of the John Purdue Club since 1984. Linda is the Dean of Students at Purdue, while Ken is the director of the Center for Christian Growth.

Former women's basketball standout Pat Harris (1979-82) received the Outstanding Alumna Award. Harris, who currently serves on the athletic department's Advisory Council and also has served on a Big Ten Conference advisory board, works in human resources for United Parcel Systems in Indianapolis. She ranks 29th on the Boilermakers' career assists list with 108.

John Purdue Day is scheduled for Saturday.
