Big Ten Announces Officers for 2003-04 Purdue President Jischke named second vice chair

PARK RIDGE, Ill. - The Big Ten Conference has announced the new officers of the Council of Presidents/Chancellors (COP/C) for the 2003-04 academic year.

Graham Spanier, President of Penn State University, will chair the COP/C. University of Michigan President Mary Sue Coleman will serve as vice chair, and Purdue University President Martin Jischke has been named second vice chair. These three presidents also will serve as the Executive Committee for the Big Ten.

Along with the three university representatives, other officers include Big Ten Commissioner of Athletics James E. Delany, who serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the COP/C; Associate Commissioner-Chief Operating Officer/Chief Financial Officer Brad Traviolia, who is the Council's Treasurer; and Carol A. Iwaoka, Associate Commissioner-Governance, who serves as the Council's Secretary.
