Corey Barboza
Corey Barboza joined the Purdue staff in July 2021 as an assistant director of strength and conditioning after serving as an associate since July 2019. Overseeing the development of Purdue softball and track team’s long sprints programs, Barboza also coordinates continuing education efforts for the strength and conditioning department. While an associate at Purdue, Barboza’s responsibilities included overseeing the track long sprints group, the cheerleading teams, as well as assisting with a variety of sports including baseball, track short sprints and jumps. Barboza came to Purdue from Saint Anselm College where he spent three years, including his final year as the head strength & conditioning coach. While with the Division II program, Barboza led efforts for softball, men’s and women’s basketball, football, men’s lacrosse, men’s hockey and women’s soccer. His efforts helped guide softball to a national runner-up finish in 2018, a men’s basketball final four appearance in 2019 and a women’s basketball elite eight run the same year. A graduate of Keene State College in 2013, Barboza holds a bachelor’s of science degree in exercise science and a master’s degree from Louisville in exercise physiology: strength & conditioning, which he earned in 2015. Barboza is Strength & Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) through the CSSCa, Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the NSCA and USA Weightlifting: Level 1 certified.
