• Swam for coaches Eric Meyer and Scot Kubly at Zionsville Community High School in the northwest suburbs of Indianapolis
• 100 and 200 freestyle state champion as a senior
• 12-time Top-8 finalist at the Indiana state championships, finishing as the runner-up in the 200 free as a junior

• Helped ZCHS win the state title and set a state record in the 200 free relay as a junior

• Both parents are Purdue alumni and College of Engineering graduates
• Grandparents Hank & Shari Mattice as well as two uncles and a cousin are also Purdue alumni
