WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue (28-22, 9-13 Big Ten) split day two of the series against Indiana (32-17, 10-12 Big Ten), taking game one 2-0 and falling in game two 2-10, but clinched its spot in the Big Ten Tournament.
Julia Gossett pitched game one, allowing no runs and registering three strikeouts. Offensively, the Boilermakers had five hits, including a double from Gossett.
In game two, Kendall Klochack started on the mound before Madi Elish took over to finish. Alivia Meeks hit a two-run home run, her fourth of the season, to score the only Boilermaker runs of the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The game started with a close call in the field as the Hoosiers loaded the bases, but the Boilermakers stopped the damage with a big strikeout from Gossett. Khloe Banks walked and Gossett doubled to send her home to put Purdue on the scoreboard early in the bottom of the first.
Indiana was held from scoring in the second inning. When the Boilers took the plate, they immediately earned two hits, with a sac-fly that moved the runners forward. A hit by Ashlynn Campbell got Delaney Reefe home to score, strengthening the lead.
The Hoosiers had two runners left on base in the third inning, but couldn't catch up. Purdue went down in order at the bottom of the frame, and the fourth inning was three-up, three-down. Each side had one hit in the fifth inning, but no runs were scored.
The Boilermakers sent down the Hoosier batters in order once again at the top of the sixth inning and added a hit to the board when they went to the plate. Defense stayed strong in the seventh and the game ended with a Boilermaker win, 2-0.

The Hoosiers put two batters on base with a single and a double, and two Boilermaker errors sent both of them home to score early. When Purdue took the plate, only Reefe made it on base with a walk, but she was left in the field. Indiana increased its lead in the second inning with two more runs on three hits, including a home run to the right side. Condon doubled, but she was left on second base.
Indiana continued its momentum into the third, putting two runners on base before a triple sent them home. Elish took over on the mound, then a wild pitch gave the Hoosiers a third run in the frame. K. Bailey was left on base after a Hoosier error in the bottom of the inning.
The Boilers held the Hoosiers from putting any runners on base in the fourth inning, then took to the plate. Gossett walked and Meeks fired a home run over the fence to add two Boilermaker runs to the scoreboard.
Indiana stopped the damage and strengthened their lead with three more runs on two hits in the fifth inning. Purdue wasn't able to catch up in the bottom of the frame, falling in game three of the series 10-2
