Jacobsen Invited to USA Basketball U19 Training Camp Roster

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Sophomore Daniel Jacobsen has been invited as one of 33 players to compete for a spot on USA Basketball's U19 National Team, the organization announced this afternoon.

Training camp will begin June 14 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, with the 12-member team expected to be announced before the team departs from the 2025 FIBA U19 Men's World Cup in Switzerland to be played in late June and early July.

Jacobsen is one of seven players on the list to have already played a year of collegiate basketball. There are 13 incoming freshmen invited to try and 13 more rising seniors from the high school ranks invited.

Jacobsen has experience with USA Basketball, helping the U18 team win the gold medal at the 2024 FIBA Americup in Argentina last summer. He was named to the Americup All-Star Five second team after averaging 9.2 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.2 blocked shots in just 16.2 minutes per game, shooting almost 65 percent from the field and almost 80 percent from the free throw line.

He set an Americup record with 19 blocked shots in the tournament, passing current Indiana Pacers forward Myles Turner for the record in the tournament's history. He recorded at least four blocks in three of the six games. Per 40 minutes in the tournament, Jacobsen averaged 22.5 points, 17.2 rebounds and 7.8 blocked shots.

Jacobsen appeared in essentially one game a year ago for the Boilermakers, before breaking his leg in the first minute of the second game of the season. He scored 13 points with seven rebounds and three blocked shots in 25 minutes of Purdue's 90-73 win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

The 7-foot, 4-inch Jacobsen is now 100 percent healthy and has gained nearly 40 pounds since his arrival on campus in late June last summer, weighing around 250 pounds.

Purdue has been well-represented on USA Basketball. Two years ago, Myles Colvin played in the 2023 FIBA U19 World Cup in Hungary. Four years ago, both Jaden Ivey and Caleb Furst won gold medals for Team USA while Zach Edey won bronze with Team Canada. Both Ivey and Edey were named to the FIBA U19 World Cup 5 All-Star Team with Chet Holmgren, Victor Wenbanyama and Serbia's Nikola Jovic.

In 2019, Trevion Williams won gold with Team USA. Carsen Edwards won bronze with Team USA in 2017. Lastly, Caleb Swanigan won gold in 2014 in the U17 World Cup before winning gold in the 2015 U19 World Cup.
