Boilers Earn 2 Podium Finishes on Day 2 of B1G Championships

EUGENE, Ore. – Bode Gilkerson (high jump) and Jalen Elrod (heptathlon) earned podium finishes at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships on Saturday. Alexia Smith (400m) and Zoe Sullivan (100mH) also qualified for the Sunday's finals in their respective events.
 
Men's Notes
• Gilkerson cleared a season-best 2.14m (7-00.25) in the high jump to finish fourth and earn five points for the Boilermakers. He also finished fourth at this season's Big Ten Indoor Championships.
Caleb Williams finished 10th in the 3000m steeplechase (8:48.63), while Nathaniel Getachew finished 13th with a personal best (8:54.45).
Logan Sandlin finished 10th in the decathlon with 6,807 points. A second-place finish in the 400m (49.31) and third place finishes in the 1500m (4:31.45) and pole vault (4.60m / 15-01.00) highlighted his weekend.
 
Women's Notes
• Elrod took eighth in the heptathlon with a personal-best 5,550 points. She increased her program ranking one spot to No. 4. Elrod's performance was highlighted by a second-place finish in the long jump (6.01m / 19-08.75) and third place finishes in the 200m (23.77) and 800m (2:13.59).
• Smith qualified for the 400m finals after she finished fourth in 52.96. The time is a season best and her third time running sub-53 (second outdoors).
• Sullivan finished sixth in the 100mH prelims (13.31) to qualify for Sunday's final. She will look to score points for the second consecutive season after she finished fourth last season.

The 2025 Big Ten Outdoor Championships conclude on Sunday with the Boilers scheduled to participate in five individual races and four relays.
