WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The No. 54 Purdue men's tennis squad secured a 4-1 victory vs. No. 56 Indiana on Saturday, clinched by the No. 70-ranked Aleksa Krivokapic's 7-6 (4), 7-6 (7) win.
It was Purdue's 10th win at home this season and its 10th overall this season (10-8, 2-7 Big Ten) while handing Indiana its 10th loss of the year (10-10, 1-8 Big Ten).
Both doubles and singles play ended in tiebreaker fashion, with duo Henrik Villanger and Maj Premzl at the No. 3 position clinching the team point with a 7-6 (6) victory as the last court to finish.
Heading into singles play, the Boilermakers carried the momentum, taking the lead after Set 1 on four of the six courts. Freshman Nour Fathalla was the first to finish, improving to a 12-2 record this spring, including 5-1 in Big Ten action. After the Hoosiers earned its first and only point of the day, sophomore Henrik Villanger won on a Set 2 tiebreak (6-3, 7-6 [6]) before Krivokapic clinched the victory.
It was the first rivalry win for the Boilermakers in West Lafayette since 2016.
With just four matches remaining in the regular season, the Boilermakers will return to action next weekend for the home finale, taking on No. 43 Washington on Friday at 4 p.m. ET and No. 62 Oregon on Sunday at 10 a.m. ET.
