Marcus Mbow Selected by Giants in 5th Round of NFL Draft

GREEN BAY, Wis. – Purdue offensive lineman Marcus Mbow heard his name called in the NFL Draft Saturday afternoon. The Boilermaker was selected in the fifth round by the New York Giants, the 154th overall pick, the first Purdue offensive lineman drafted since Kevin Pamphile in 2014 (fifth round – Tampa Bay Buccaneers).

Mbow reunites with Tyrone Tracy Jr., who was also drafted by the Giants in the fifth round of last year's NFL Draft. Dating back to the beginning of the Joe Tiller era (1997), at least one Boilermaker has been chosen in every NFL Draft aside from the 2019 season.

Mbow played in 36 games throughout his Purdue career, making 32 starts between right guard and right tackle. He was All-Big Ten Honorable Mention in each of the past three seasons.

In his final season as a Boilermaker, Mbow started all 12 games at right tackle. He recorded a 75.2 run blocking grade by PFF, ranking sixth among Big Ten tackles. Mbow protected the quarterback all season long, allowing only one sack in 306 pass blocking snaps during Big Ten play. Going up against No. 2 Oregon, Mbow earned a spot on the PFF National Team of the Week for battling the Ducks' difficult defensive line.

During the 2023 campaign, Mbow helped pave the way the way for the Boilermakers to lead the Big Ten in rushing in conference games (184.6 ypg). The Milwaukee, Wisconsin, native helped Purdue win the Big Ten West in 2022, starting all 14 games at right guard and earning Second Team Freshman All-America accolades from College Football News.
